Who is Remasia Travel?
Remasia Travel (Remote Indonesia) was founded from a deeply personal travel experience, one that opened our eyes to both the beauty and the challenges of modern tourism. It all began after an unpleasant trip to Bali, Indonesia’s most famous destination, where we witnessed firsthand the effects of overtourism such as crowded attractions, degraded natural sites, and a loss of the island’s authentic charm. That experience inspired us to seek something different. Travel that feels genuine, responsible, and truly connected to the places and people we visit.
Our search led us to Indonesia’s lesser-known regions, small villages, remote islands, and untouched natural landscapes. Exploring these destinations gave us meaningful moments connecting with locals, experiencing unspoiled nature, and discovering cultures that remain deeply rooted in tradition. However, the journey wasn’t always easy. Limited infrastructure, scarce travel information, language barriers, and uncertainty about safety and healthcare made planning such trips challenging.
Despite these obstacles, the sense of fulfillment we felt in those rural areas was incomparable. We realized that others might also long for the same authentic experiences but without the stress of figuring everything out on their own.
That’s how Remasia Travel was born to help travelers explore Indonesia’s hidden gems comfortably and responsibly. We design customized trips to less-visited destinations where clients can immerse themselves in local culture, enjoy nature, and leave a positive impact on the communities they visit.

Founders
Charlah, born and raised in Sorong, West Papua, Indonesia, has extensive firsthand experience traveling across the country from Sabang to Merauke, including Aceh, Bali, Lombok, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua. With a background as a tourism ambassador for West Papua, she worked closely with the provincial government to develop programs, enhance tourism destinations, gaining valuable expertise in destination management and stakeholder collaboration. Holding a degree in Sustainable Tourism Management from Denmark, Charlah has worked with multiple DMCs, travel agencies, and partners, building a deep understanding of travel operations, supplier coordination, and program design. Her unique combination of local insight, international education, and professional experience ensures travel agencies can trust her to deliver well-organized, safe, and authentic experiences throughout Indonesia.

Louis, born and raised in Denmark, is an engineer and travel enthusiast with a deep passion for exploring Indonesia’s rich cultural and natural diversity. His travels have taken him to Bali, Lombok, Komodo/Flores, Java, Sulawesi and Papua. He has visited remote destinations such as Raja Ampat and Banggai Islands, where he has experienced lush landscapes and vibrant and connecting meaningfully with locals. Leveraging his engineering background, Louis brings expertise in project management, problem-solving, and logistical planning to Remasia Travel, ensuring meticulously organized tours, smooth operations, safe and seamless experiences for clients. His analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to navigate complex challenges make him uniquely equipped to deliver immersive, well-structured journeys across Indonesia’s diverse destinations.
